Lily the black bear from Ely, Minnesota

We had a fabulous day glued to the internet~ We were waiting to catch a peek and listen to the adorable cries coming from Lily's cub that was born today!! Lily is a 3-year-old black bear that lives in her den, near Ely, Minnesota. Doug Hajicek installed a LIVE cam in her den so that we could watch the exciting, much waited for event! Unfortunately, there were sooooooo many people that were watching--we could not get on the web site for the live viewing. We ended up watching it after the fact, via youtube.....and we watched it over and over and over again! It is almost midnight and there are no longer any problems watching Lily via live cam. She is relaxed and seems to be sleeping. Every once in awhile, you can hear the cub cry and then Lily gets moving around.....well, I guess we better get to bed. This will be  a day that Jelly Man will not soon forget!! This was such a wonderful learning experience for the entire family!

Here is the link to catch views of Lily and her cub.

  1. Hi, the video won't load for me - but I think it's great, having this on the web. One more thing to make people feel connected to wil creatures, instead of seeing them as things to get rid of, hunt, etc.

I'll try to come back to see views of Lily and her cub.
